Fast Charging Does It Reduce Battery Life?

First of, before answering this question, we’re going to use three (3) analogy as an example, through these analogies should give an answer to your question.

1.) Let’s say you visited your grandma in the village, and she served you with a hot pepper soup. If you start drinking the soup and eating the meat in them too fast, what happens to your tongue? you might end up burning your tongue.

But if you eat or drink them slowly, the hot soup won’t burn your tongue, you will enjoy your meal due the soup not being too hot or cold.

2.) Imagine you’re running a marathon, if you start running too fast at the beginning, you might end up getting tired too soon, and may never reach the finish line.
But if you start slowly, then you have a chance to finish the race. Orless you’ve been training for a long time, then you can start the race fast and finish fast.

3.) If you’re tasked to fill up a balloon with air. If you just start blowing in the air too hard and fast, it might just burst immediately. But if you blew in the air slowly or moderately, you can get your balloon shape.

Same thing happens to your battery’s lifespan. Be it your phone battery, laptop battery, or even power banks battery. When you frequently use extreme fast charger that is not recommended can cause issues.

Does Fast Charging Hurt the Battery Lifespan ?

The answer to this question is yes and no!

Such devices have smart chips in their battery management systems that control the power so that the battery does not get too hot or receives too much power at a time.

Just like we explained on  (No. 2 ) analogy, same thing happens to batteries with or withour fast charging feature.
If you use a fast charger on a device that doesn’t support fast charging, the device might get faulty or the battery degrades faster. But devices that support fast charging can handle the high current from the charger.

✖ Yes, fast charging can degrade your battery lifecycle if your devices doesn’t support fast charging feature.
